Taco Cabana Menu Prices

So, Taco Cabana appears to be a chain of cast casual Tex-Mex restaurants. Generally, the Taco Cabana prices do not tend to be expensive. But let’s compare the prices on this Taco Cabana menu with the prices of other Tex-Mex restaurants in the U.S.

First of all, let’s have a look at how the Taco Cabana menu prices differ from the prices at Taco Bell, the most popular Tex-Mex restaurant company in the country. For example, you can notice that various quesadillas at Taco Bell cost around $3.39 – $3.59 – you can get only a cheese quesadilla at Taco Cabana for this price. On the other hand, nachos and many plate dishes seem to cost lower at this restaurant company.

But now let’s see how the Taco Cabana prices look compared with the prices at El Pollo Loco, which is, unlike Taco Bell, a casual restaurant company and is supposed to be pricier. For instance, you can get a breakfast burrito at this restaurant for just $3.39 (combo), while most burritos at El Pollo Loco cost $6 and more. The price of tacos, however, is around the same, while quesadillas tend to be, again, more expensive at El Pollo Loco.

Overall, you can clearly see that the Taco Cabana menu prices are not too expensive. In fact, many menu items cost even less than at Taco Bell, which is a fast-food (not fast casual) restaurant. So, this company offers quite an affordable bite of Tex-Mex food.

Company’s History

As a matter of fact, Taco Cabana’s history can be traced back to 1978. Back then, Felix Stehling opened a restaurant in San Antonio after purchasing a vacant building from Dairy Queen. Back then, he made a decision to open a taco stand, resulting in the creation of the “patio café” concept that we know nowadays.

Even though the restaurant was supposed to be fast casual, the company focused on serving fresh foods whenever possible from the beginning. As the company started to grow, Stehling invited his two brothers to manage the company with him. But as the company reached the number of 9 restaurants in operation, disagreements about how to run the business between brothers grew too much and they left the company.

At the present time, there are 142 company-owned and 6 franchisee-owned restaurants in Texas and New Mexico. Currently, the business is operated by Yadav Enterprises, Inc., which acquired the company in 2021.
