Company’s History

So, the company’s roots can be traced back to 1949, when Evelyn Overton opened a business for the employer of her husband. Back then, she opened a cheesecake bakery in Detroit, Michigan, but eventually gave it up and focused her efforts on raising two children. However, she continued to bake cheesecakes in the kitchen and supply them to several local restaurants.

In 1972, the family moved to Los Angeles and opened the Cheesecake Factory Bakery, in which they made cheesecakes and other bakery products for local restaurants. 6 years later, in 1978, the family’s son David opened a small restaurant in Beverly Hills, and it sold 10 types of cheesecakes, sandwiches and salads.
